Propolis is a sticky, glue-like substance made by honeybees from plant resins they have collected, wax and other substances, it’s the medicine of the hive. The more propolis in a beehive, generally the healthier the colony. Bees use it to keep the hive sterile, medicate the hive with its healing properties and seal up any cracks and reduce their entrance in the cooler temperatures.
We beekeepers extract during hive inspections!
